- Speaker Meeting - David Eller
Speaker Meeting - David Eller
We will have a speaker at this month's meeting. David Eller will present his thoughts on agnotology (from a-gnosis-ology, the study of non-knowledge). The idea is that not-knowing or ignorance is not just a matter of lack of information but is sometimes a calculated project to mislead or confuse.
David Eller earned a PhD in anthropology from Boston University after spending two years in Australia studying aboriginal societies. He has taught anthropology, sociology and history, most recently at the Community College of Denver. His interests also include religion, violence, and American culture and diversity. He is the author of numerous books, including Cultural Anthropology: Global Forces, Local Lives; Culture and Diversity in the United States; and Cruel Creeds, Virtuous Violence: Religious Violence across Culture and History.
